ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP
We are looking for fit and healthy optometrists to provide primary eye care for people of the Annapurna Sanctuary. You will provide eye care at the villages of Hille and Chhomrong en route to Annapurna Base Camp.

SAMPLE ITINERARY
Day 1
PRE-TREK: Meet & Greet in Kathmandu (1330m)
The drive from the airport to the hotel is around 20 minutes. Our representative will set a time for your briefing and help you arrange anything you might need before the trek. After a casual dinner to get to know the team, everyone return to their rooms to get their bags ready for the mountains and to rest early for an early flight the next morning.
Day 2
Fly to Pokhara & Trek from Nayapul to Tikhedhunga
After breakfast, we head to the domestic airport to catch our flight to Pokhara. It is a one hour flight with magnificent views of the highest peaks in the world including the 8000m peaks of Manaslu and Annarpuna! Our guides and porters will meet us at Pokhara and drive us to Nayapul - the start of the ABC trek. From Nayapul it’s a gradual three hour walk to Tikhedhunga where we spend our first night.
Day 3
Tikhedhunga to Ulleri
We have plenty of time to enjoy breakfast before heading up to Ulleri which is a two hour walk up hill. After lunch we set up the clinic ready for eye testing the next day.
Day 4 & 5
Eye Testing at Ulleri
Ulleri offers a great view of the valley below. We spend an entire day performing eye tests for the Ulleri people.
Day 6
Ulleri to Ghorepani
This is a nice part of the trek with views rainforests and waterfalls. It is around 4 hours of gradual walk. We arrive Ghorepani to have lunch and have the afternoon free to explore the village. Make sure you rest early for the hike to see sunrise the next day!
Day 7
Ghorepani to Poon hill (3193m) to Chitre
We meet early to have some tea before heading up to Poon Hill to catch sunrise amongst 360 degree view of snow peaks! After we are satisfied that we have fully enjoyed the beautiful scenery, we head back down to Ghorepani for breakfast. Then it’s a two hour downhill walk to Chitre. We set up the clinic after lunch and have the rest of the day free to relax.
Day 8 & 9
Eye Testing at Chitre
We spend the entire day performing eye tests for the Gurung people of Chitre.
Day 10
Chitre to Ghorepani
After breakfast we slowly pack our bags and head back up to Ghorepani. We will have lunch in Ghorepani and have the afternoon to do shopping and relax.
Day 11
Ghorepani to Chomrong
There’s a bit of up and down some Nepalese ‘‘hills’’ and suspension bridges before arriving Chomrong. We will stop in Tadapani for lunch. There will be plenty of time to enjoy Chomrong. Make sure you try the bakery.
Day 12
Chomrong to Bamboo to Deurali
Around eight hours of mild up and down through lush cliffs and rivers. We will stop in Bamboo for lunch which is about the mid-way point.
Day 13
Deurali to ABC
We continue to make our way through the valley. Here you start seeing more snow capped mountain peaks such as Mt Hiunchuli, Annapurna South and Fishtail. We stop at Machapuchare Base Camp (3700m) for a tea break and to enjoy the nice view. Now that we are above the tree line, the scenery changes dramatically from rainforest to open view of hills and snow peaks. We arrive Annapurna Base Camp for lunch and you have the entire afternoon to explore this amazing place!
Day 14
ABC to Sinuwa
We start making our way back. It is a full day of walking today, however, mostly downhill to Sinuwa.
Day 15
Sinuwa to Jhindu
We head over to Jinhu after breakfast where we enjoy the famous natural hot spring after lunch.
Day 16
Jhindu to Nayapul to Pokhara
From Jhindu, we trek for three hours to Nayapul to be picked up by our Jeep. Today, we say farewell to our guides and porters. The Jeep will take us back to Pokhara where we will have the rest of the day to explore the city.
Day 16
Fly Back to Kathmandu
We take an early flight back to Kathmandu and visit a local family run restaurant to learn to make either 'Dhal Bhat' or Momo. This is followed by a visit to the Singing Bowl Master to learn about Art of Meditation. The evening is free for you to do some more shopping and enjoy your last dinner as a team!
Day 17
Last day in Kathmandu
After breakfast there maybe time to squeeze in some sightseeing and shopping. What a way to finish our adventure! We wish you a safe journey home!
